About Us (Richard Garfinkle and Alessandra Kelley)

We are, as they say, a Mom and Pop operation. In this case, the operation is a little more extreme than many. One science fiction writer/ computer programmer + One visual artist = One mad animator's lab assistant.

Richard's an author and programmer. He trained in mathematics in college and has been programming computers since junior high school. He's the one who did all the Igor programming.

Alessandra has done various kinds of fine art, curating, and illustration. She's also the designer and webmistress for this website.

Richard has published several books, including the award-winning science fiction novel Celestial Matters and the physics book, Three Steps to the Universe: From the Sun to Black Holes to the Mystery of Dark Matter, cowritten with his brother, physics professor David Garfinkle.

The idea for Igor was sparked by one of our friends, a professional computer animator who was frustrated with the animation programs he was working with.

We formed Achronal Press to publish experimental fiction and software.
